Donna Brown moderated the WeSPOKE Gallery Talk, “Art, Climate, and Boston,” on July 28 at the SPOKE Gallery in South Boston.
Donna, the executive director of the South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation and a SPOKE board member, led the Zoom panel of artists: Allison Maria Rodriguez, Franklin Marval, and Carolina Aragón, who are doing their part to bring attention to climate change.
HarborOne Bank Signs on as a Street Festival Sponsor

Youth Ambassadors Cultivating Gardens … and Themselves
Courtney and Chelsea Mulligan and Vi Thai are spending this summer taking care of the plant beds and picking up trash along Broadway, planting flowers and caring for gardens, and cleaning up the area for the Farmers Market. But this is way more than just a summer job for these Youth Ambassadors.
It’s preparation for their futures: in education, in confidence, in the workforce, and in their communities.
Courtney, Chelsea, and Vi are part of South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation’s longtime summer program and are under the tutelage of a former Youth Ambassador, Noah White, who is in his second year overseeing the program.
SBNDC Awarded Grant to Help Small Businesses
Help is on the way for small businesses in South Boston thanks to a $34,000 Tufts Medical Center grant awarded to South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation.
In an effort to stabilize or grow existing local small businesses, with a preference for minority- and women-owned establishments, SBNDC will use the funding to hire additional staff to provide expanded technical assistance.
Aid Network Distributes 112 Care Kits to South Boston Families in Need
The South Boston Neighborhood Aid Network distributed the last of its Care Kits last week to South Boston families in the Mary Ellen McCormack housing development.
